    Katsuya Las Vegas

One of my favorite things about living in Vegas (there really aren’t a lot of favorite things, to be honest) is the abundance of restaurants. A lot of times if there’s a remotely trendy restaurant in Los Angeles, it ends up here in Vegas saving me a trip to LA just to eat. Not that I haven’t done that before a few times, if we’re being really honest. Katsuya was one of the restaurants on my checklist in LA so I was pretty happy when it ended up at SLS Las Vegas. My foodie friends Carla and Michelle had it on their lists too so it worked out perfectly. I…

    Throwback Thursdays

Hello! Since it’s actually fall (although not nearly as much like fall as the rest of the country) I thought I’d revisit one of my favorite fall trips for Throwback Thursday. A few years ago, my mom and I took a really nice trip to New England in September. It was perfect because part of the trip was nice and warm and part of it was pretty chilly during the day. Even better- the leaves were changing colors. Since we don’t get much of that in Vegas, I geek out a little when I see orange and yellow leaves in the fall.  One of my favorite parts of the trip…

    What’s Up Wednesdays

Good morning! Not too much going on here in my world. I did get a fantastic new job! Really enjoying the work and my new managers and coworkers. It’s earlier hours than I’m used to so I haven’t been out and about as much as I usually would be. I am so glad that the summer worked out perfectly in terms of the trips I took between jobs and the amount of time I got to really get things together. The timing was amazing! God is awesome.  Today I’m recapping another portion of my big summer road trip with Corey. After Crater Lake, we spent a night in Madras after…

Tuesday Travel Guide: Atlanta- Filming Locations

Bonus Round! So in addition to the awesome things to see in and around Atlanta, it’s also home to a lot of great filming locations for tons of movies and television shows. Some of my faves are filmed around the Atlanta area so whenever I’m in town, I like to take an afternoon or so to explore them. The Vampire Diaries Covington Okay, so back in 2010 I was a diehard Vampire Diaries fan. When we plotted one of our trips back east to stop in Atlanta, I decided to rent a car and drive over to Covington for the afternoon so we could see where it’s filmed. We ended…

    Monday Must Haves

Hello blog world!  Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend! This is totally not what I usually do for my Monday posts but whatever. Has anyone been on the Mod Cloth sale page lately? So many good finds! I’m always on the hunt for things that are out of season that I can wear next year- for instance, I’m buying sandals for next summer now. Cute colorful pieces that match a lot of the basics that are sitting in my closet now.  There’s also a lot of really cute jewelry on clearance too. I recently shopped this sale and got a bunch of great pieces for under $8 and now they’re…

    Stay-In Saturdays

Morning blog world! A few weeks ago I was at Wal Mart and came across a really cool display rack for a product line called Street Kitchen. I love cooking but I’m not super crazy about spending over an hour in front of the stove (especially in the summer when it’s already hot enough as it is) and these looked really appealing. They have a bunch of different really fun ethnic dishes with all the seasonings and sauces you need to make a really great meal.  I tried out the Moroccan Lemon Chicken first because I usually have a small reserve of couscous in my pantry and I happened to…

    Foodie Fridays

I’m a big fan of happy hour. I’m not a drinker but usually it’s a great time to try out some of the food offerings at a reduced price. We have a lot of fun and fancy happy hours here in Vegas so it’s an especially great time to try out some of the more upscale restaurants.  Recently while taking my cousin to the airport, we were in need of a fun place for an easy bite. Since the Hard Rock Hotel is a quick jaunt to the airport, we decided to hit up Culinary Dropout for happy hour. In addition to the drink specials, there’s a ton of items…

    Throwback Thursdays

So a couple years ago, I made a really really hellish trip to Albuquerque to see Luke Bryab.  This trip was the epitome of a travel nightmare. I had researched the bus schedules and downloaded the bus app so I would always be able to catch the bus easily. Getting from the airport to the hotel was easy enough and then from the hotel to Old Town Albuquerque. It was super hot and really humid because storms were in the area. On the way back to the hotel I missed every bus at every stop because the app was behind on the time, cabs would have taken way longer, and…

    What’s Up Wednesday

Morning everyone! So now that the weather is NICE, it’s a perfect time to explore some of what the Nevada desert has to offer. We’ve got ghost towns, weird kitschy attractions, and Seven Magic Mountains.  Seven Magic Mountains is a really cool art installation that recently showed up off I15. It’s super colorful and easy to get to from both directions. There’s even parking. Make sure you stay on the path because it is the desert and there are rattle snakes!

    Monday Must Haves

Sometimes it’s really hard to find a good travel bag. When my mom and I went to Indonesia last year, we had a few specifications for the bags we intended to carry around during the day for tours and such. We wanted purses that aren’t easy to break into that would still look nice and carry everything we need for the day. We decided on Travelon. They have a ton of purses that are cute but have locking zippers, slashproof straps, and RFID blocking technology built into the bags. They also had lots of great pouches and compartments and carried pretty much everything we needed. They ended up being the…
