Cordis Hong Kong: My Favorite Hotel

Hong Kong has a ton of hotels, but there’s only one we make a point of staying at on every visit since I returned as an adult. The Cordis Hong Kong is located in the heart of Mong Kok, and it’s possibly my favorite hotel in the world.

Unbeatable Location & Direct MTR Access

One of the best things about Cordis Hong Kong is that it is right by multiple MTR entrances. You can enter from the street or the attached Langham Place Shopping Center—another of the hotel’s best features. Having an entire mall within steps of the hotel lobby is amazing, and you’ll see why.

Above-and-Beyond Hospitality

The service at Cordis Hong Kong has always been top-notch—from check-in to housekeeping to check-out, and even afterward, we were still treated like valued guests hours after we checked out. We left our luggage at the bell desk and booked a taxi to the airport after checking out because we had an evening flight. The front desk staff were still so welcoming and even walked us to the spa so we could change and freshen up before heading to the airport. I’d never actually seen the spa at the hotel (we don’t spend much time there unless we are super tired), and it was lovely.

Bright, Smartly Designed Rooms in Kowloon

One thing to know about rooms in Hong Kong: they tend to be small. Space is obviously at a premium in a city this packed, but I love how the spaces at Cordis are designed. The rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows, so there’s lots of light; the bathroom has privacy shades (one wall is glass to make the space feel larger), and there are plenty of mirrors. The rooms always feel bright and airy to me, and I love waking up to the views of Kowloon in the morning.

Dining & Local Eats at Langham Place

The attached Langham Place Shopping Mall is one of my favorite spots in Hong Kong because it has a slew of unique shops, local products, and a lot of great food. You’ll find everything from coffee and boba shops to noodle spots, plus my favorite dessert spot, Honeymoon Desserts. It’s a great place to find a variety of cuisines under one roof, and most of them are all on the same level. The mall is also known for having one of the most insane escalators you’ll see—it’s not for the faint of heart!

Souvenir Shopping: Local Boutiques, Pet Goods & Beauty

Langham Place is also a great place to shop for unique souvenirs at one of its many boutiques. My favorite was the pet supply store, Petmium, which had a variety of dog and cat beds shaped like Hong Kong landmarks such as the Star Ferry, and toys that resemble Hong Kong snacks and candies. Log-On is another store we’ve always enjoyed, with a variety of novelty goods in addition to Asian skincare and beauty products.

With its amazing location, proximity to public transportation, fantastic service, comfortable rooms and a wonderfully well-equipped shopping center, there’s nowhere else in Hong Kong I would rather stay!
